Research
Dr. Dinan does research in Classical and Contemporary political philosophy, and has additional interests in Christian theology and literature and film. He鈥檚 published articles on such thinkers as Plato, Aristotle, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Arendt, and Derrida. He is the co-editor of Politics, Literature, and Film in Conversation (Lexington Books) and What is Canadian Philosophy?
His current research projects include a monograph exploring S酶ren Kierkegaard as a Socratic political thinker, Kierkegaard鈥檚 Socratic Modernity, an exploration of the concept of 蝉耻苍驳苍辞尘脓 or forgiveness in Aristotle鈥檚 political thought, and using some of the works of playwright Tom Stoppard to parse the tense relationship between scientific progress and political liberty.
Dr. Dinan also contributes to , a journal offering 鈥渃ritical reflections on contemporary culture,鈥 published by the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia.
